৮৫১ হিজরী সনের কথা। আল-মাসালিক সম্প্রদায়ের একদল লোক একটি কাফিলা তৈরি করে ইরাকের উদ্দেশ্যে যাত্রা করে। আল-মাসালিক ছিল আনজা গোত্রের শাখা। এই কাফিলার উদ্দেশ্য ছিল ইরাক থেকে খাদ্যশস্য এবং অন্যান্য সামগ্রী ক্রয় করে এনে নজদে সরবরাহ করা। সেই কাফিলার প্রধান ছিল শামী-বিন-হাতলুল। কাফিলা যখন বসরায় পৌঁছে, তখন খাদ্যশস্যের এক ইহুদী বড় ব্যবসায়ীর সাথে দলের লোকজন সাক্ষাৎ করে। সেই ইহুদী ব্যক্তিটি ছিল মোরদাখাই বিন ইব্রাহীম বিন মোসেহ।
